Our Understanding of Sustainability

LAPP is a family company. We think long-term and act responsibly – for our employees, for our customers, for our suppliers, for the environment and for society. Sustainability is an integral part of our global corporate strategy and culture. In this way, we are making an effective contribution to the future of coming generations and the preservation of our planet.

For us, economic success is always linked to social and ecological commitment. Sustainable, environmentally friendly management and the responsible use of all natural resources are important criteria for our company decisions. People play a central role in this. We take our responsibility seriously and see ourselves as an active part of an environment and society worth living in. LAPP cultivates a strong understanding of respectful and compliant business behaviour, which we implement worldwide.

We are convinced that we as a company must set a good example so that future generations can also find a planet worth living on. With this in mind, LAPP has set itself ambitious goals in the areas of environment, products & innovation and employees & society.

Our Sustainability Goals

Sustainability is one of five overarching goals of the Strategy 2027. We have set ourselves the following milestones with regard to our sustainable actions, which are firmly anchored in our strategy and are therefore an integral part of all business processes. These are regularly checked for compliance.

Environment

At LAPP, we focus on sustainable, environmentally friendly management and responsible use of natural resources. In order to reduce our own CO₂ emissions, we attach great importance to the resource-saving operation of our buildings and plants. The heart of LAPP beats in production, development and administration. We are constantly working on planning, constructing and operating buildings sustainably. This also includes identifying the largest energy consumption sources and subsequently optimising consumption.

  • 50 percent reduction in CO₂ emissions (Scope 1&2, base year: 2022) at company level by 2027
  • Development of a holistic circular economy strategy

Products & Innovations

Our products and solutions not only fulfil the highest quality requirements. We measure and verify the environmental impact of our products and work to reduce our ecological footprint. We are also progressive in our use of renewable resources.

A sustainably produced product requires appropriate processes and structures along the entire value chain. We want to use resources responsibly rather than simply consume them. We therefore develop product concepts for the more efficient utilisation of natural resources, for increasing the material efficiency of the product and for the environmentally friendly handling of chemicals and waste. These concepts will be implemented and integrated into our innovative portfolio in the long term.

  • The product carbon footprint is to be reported for all key product groups
  • The use of copper with a reduced carbon footprint is being investigated

Employees & Society

Social commitment is not just a LAPP family tradition, but also a company tradition. We support a variety of social initiatives and organisations in the communities surrounding our company locations. Globalisation and community spirit are not incompatible at LAPP: Since the very beginning, active involvement in social issues has been part of the corporate culture at our family-owned company – regardless of market changes, accompanying changes in strategy and structural adjustments.

  • Promoting the (mental) health and well-being of employees
  • Strengthening internationality and diversity
  • Promoting social commitment

Our Commitment to Sustainability

We align our sustainability activities with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Five of the seventeen SDGs in particular influence our work for sustainable business at an economic, ecological and social level:

  • Health and well-being,
  • Decent work and economic growth,
  • Industry, innovation and infrastructure,
  • Sustainable consumption and production and
  • Climate protection measures.
